Americans have always had a love affair with cars. Dating back to 1908 when the first Model-T was designed and introduced by Henry Ford, the automobile has made everyday American life possible- allowing for more free time and easier transportation.

Chrysler was also founded by someone who loved cars. Walter Chrysler founded the company which bears his name in 1925 and earned much success by offering many innovative features to the car-buying public. The original 70 model had a 6-cylinder engine which gave owners an advanced, well-engineered car at an affordable price. It also included a carburetor air filter, high compression engine, full pressure lubrication, and an oil filter. These features were not generally available on other makes and models produced at the time.

One of Chrysler's biggest successes was the introduction of the minivan in the fall of 1983. This model led the automobile industry in sales for 25 years. Along with the K cars developed in the early 1980s, these models completely turned around the financially troubled carmaker and allowed Chrysler to repay government loans ahead of schedule. It is considered a crowning achievement in business history which was mainly engineered by its charismatic leader, Lee Iacocca.

Other noteworthy information: In 1998, Chrysler and Daimler-Benz formed a 50-50 partnership. In 2001, the Plymouth brand was discontinued. By 2005, Chrysler was considered to be the most financially sound of the big Detroit Three automakers (in comparison to GM and Ford). In 2007, Chrysler officially became Chrysler Holding LLC. Its subsidiary, Chrysler Motors LLC, manufactures Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep vehicles. Chrysler is currently in a partnership with Fiat.

Shopping for car insurance is no different than shopping for other items you need. The more you research and learn, the better you will be able to negotiate a reasonable price for an insurance premium. Contact various companies and get quotes for the make and model of car you want to insure. Remember that generally your personal information impacts your insurance rate more than the type of car you drive. Try to maintain a clean driving record and also check your credit score. Most companies will check your credit-worthiness when you apply for car insurance so make sure your credit report is accurate and up-to-date.

Chrysler risk considerations
Chrysler has a relatively low risk of theft. Only 1% of the top 100 cars stolen was a Chrysler and this was the Le Baron model.

The results of crash tests performed by the Insurance Institute For Highway Safety are mixed when it comes to Chrysler models. The midsize Chrysler 200 (4-door models), the larger Chrysler 300 and the Chrysler Town and Country minivan all were named Top Safety Picks for 2012 by the IIHS. However, many models received a poor rating when it comes to rear end crashes. These include the PT Cruiser, Pacifica, and the Sebring.

If you are in the market for a Chrysler vehicle, it makes sense to do some investigating on your own and determine the safety ratings and crash test results for the model or models you are interested in. You can then get quotes from several car insurance companies and determine who offers the most reasonable price for the coverage you need. Personal injury protection and uninsured motorist coverage can vary depending on the safety features and crash test results of the automobile being insured so it's important to know these facts before writing up your policy.

Chrysler insurance rates
It's smart to include the cost of insurance when determining what an automobile will cost to own and operate. If you are financing your new or used car, the lender will most likely have certain types of coverage which are required (to protect their investment until the car is paid off) while other coverage may be optional. Remember that every state has minimum requirements with regards to insurance coverage but many times these amounts are dangerously low for true personal protection. Be sure to go over your personal needs and requirements with a qualified agent who can help you formulate a policy which is adequate for your situation.

The following quotes for an annual premium are only estimates and do not reflect what you might actually be charged for a yearly policy. Please use these only as a guideline to determine your costs and remember that each individual driver is evaluated separately. For a Chrysler PT Cruiser you can expect to pay around $1430 for an annual premium whereas a Sebring will average around $1385. A Chrysler Town and Country minivan will generally run about $1160 and a Pacifica will be about $1200. The new Chrysler Crossfire averages around $1430 for annual coverage. These numbers should give you a basis from which you can budget your personal insurance costs.
